Freddy Krueger Might Not Be Real, But Fear Is

Fear can be kind of like a bad horror movie. You know, the ones where the lady is running from the killer, through the woods, only to trip and fall, or she jumps into a car, fumbles with the keys and then the car won’t start.

In horror movies like that the characters struggle through the story for two whole hours, fighting off the killer at every turn. Some of the characters don’t make it, but there’s always that one or two who do.

By the end of the movie, they’re bruised and battered and most certainly, traumatized by what they’ve been through. Then they have that one last fight to the death with the killer, and it’s the most intense yet.

They hit him over the head with a lamp, but he’s still coming for them. They stab him in the leg with a butcher knife, but he gets up and keeps coming. They push him over the third floor railing, and he may be weak now, but he’s still trying to kill them. Then they douse him with gasoline...

Sometimes Being Stupid is the Smartest Thing You Can Do

Do you remember a time in life when you were really stupid? I mean, like you can think back to some of the things you used to do and wonder how you even survived?

I feel like that when I think back to my 20s. I want to say that I thought I knew everything there was to know about life, but honestly, I think I was aware that I knew nothing about life. That’s what inspired me.

When I was in my 20s, I had a burning desire to learn more about life. I grew up in a small city with a population of around 250,000 people, at the time, and I desperately wanted to get out of that city to see what the world had to offer.

I wanted to experience another way of life, and not just be limited to what I knew growing up, so I decided to leave. I moved to another city. That’s pretty commendable, and I’m proud of that, but here’s the stupid part. I was flat ass broke when I moved.

I had found a job prior to moving, but on the day that I was to leave my hometown, I had...

Stay Motivated - Hang In There, Introvert

Yesterday, I gave you all the 4 week update to my One Bold Action Per Day commitment. Since I’m always talking about pushing past your fears and going for what you know in life, I want to be sure I am giving you all a full picture of the good and the not so good.

The beginning of my week was pretty rough. My introversion was in extra full force. Recording my podcast wasn’t a problem, but posting videos on Instagram was a real struggle. Every morning I woke up with a very strong desire to delete my IG account and crawl back into a cave.

I second guessed everything. Typically, I won’t listen to my podcast episodes once I post them, nor will I read my blog posts, nor will I watch my IGTV videos. But I did all those things this week. Over and over.

Now, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to review your content. If you’re reviewing it to get new ideas or see where you can improve, great. If you’re reviewing it to be overly critical and...

One Bold Action Per Day (Week 4 Update)

Hopefully, you’ve been following my podcast, Master Your Mission, on iTunes, Spotify, or Google Play Music, or you follow me on Instagram, or you read what I write here on my blog.

If any of the above is true, you may know that on February 21st, I committed to taking one bold action per day for 66 days. This commitment stems from my personal desire to do two things:

  1. Show other people that taking bold action is not as scary as it looks.
  2. Make taking bold actions a habit—or second nature—in my life. (Sidenote: According to studies, it takes 66 days to form a habit.)

An important thing to note is that I defined a bold action as one that a) moves me out of my comfort zone and closer to my goals and b) defies an irrational fear that I’ve allowed to hold me back in the past.

I also challenged you to take one bold action per day toward something that you want to accomplish in your life.

Today marks, 4 weeks—one full month—since I made this...
