Wakanda Wasn't Built In a Day

You’ve been working hard, doing all the things you need to do for your business, but things just aren’t happening as fast as you’d like. Frustration sets in and the mental gymnastics of entrepreneurship begin.

What you’re feeling is not unique to you. It’s actually common for entrepreneurs to feel that way. What’s not so common is the ability to ward off thoughts of caving in and the ability to stay focused on the end goal.

Here, my friend, is where the rubber meets the road. This is just the introduction of the book you’re writing of your life, and you’re nowhere near the end.

So many entrepreneurs give up in this very spot. They come up with a business idea, start working toward their goals, and when they don’t see M’s in their bank account by week 2, they’re on to the next. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but not by much.

You’re not them though. You’re going to keep going. You won’t give in to the microwave mentality that causes other people to quit after 2 weeks of “trying”, because you’re built different. You’ve done the mindset work, so you’re not afraid of a little patience or commitment.

By now, everyone on the planet has either seen Black Panther or heard of the fictional country, Wakanda, located in Sub-Saharan Africa. Wakanda is a rich kingdom full of black greatness and untouched by the devastation of colonialism. In the movie and in real life, the story of Wakanda’s greatness developed over decades, not days.

But this article is not about Wakanda, nor is it about Black Panther.

The point that I am making to you is that while, you could probably build a shanty town in a few days, it takes time to build something as glorious as Wakanda. Something that is worthy of your ownership, amplifies your greatness, and exalts your royal caliber.

Building something as magnificent as the Kingdom of Wakanda takes a strong foundation and quality craftsmanship. It takes time, focus, and unrelenting devotion to your vision. None of those qualities are developed overnight.

It may take you months, years, or even decades, to finally see your vision come to life. Find joy in the fact that you’re building and in the love you have for what you’re doing. You’ve got the chops to stay in it, so you’ve already proven that you’re miles ahead of those that quit.

As you’re building your Wakanda, be patient. Continue to believe in yourself and keep going. You’re on the right track to sit on the throne of the grandiose Kingdom — or Queendom — that will last for generations to come.
