I think that we all have a purpose in life. Everyone’s purpose isn’t necessarily to be the next Oprah Winfrey or Barack Obama, but we all have a roll in making this world a better place.
I think of the impact each of us have, as individuals, like a drop of water that creates a ripple. The ripple gets bigger and bigger and creates gigantic waves downstream. We each create drops that eventually become waves somewhere downstream in the lives of others.
One of the most difficult questions most of us spend our lives trying to answer is, “What is my purpose?” Sometimes, we look for grandiose answers, when it’s much more simple, and sometimes we allow our fears to block us from what we know we should really be doing in life.
It’s true of most people, who make a great impact on the world, that something exists deep down inside that calls them to do their life’s work. As if an external force is pulling them in the direction they should go.
And when you’re searching for your purpose, it’s really no different for you. It’s likely that there has always been something in your heart that you’ve wanted to do. Something that maybe you’ve never even told anyone else about out of the fear of judgement or lack of confidence in yourself.
You think about it and you tell yourself that if you lived in a perfect world, you would do that thing. Or you tell yourself that if you had <insert any excuse>, that you’d pursue that dream.
It’s the thing that you hold near and dear to your heart. The thing you keep coming back to every few months or every few years — you wish you could do that thing.
That thing is your purpose, and you continuously coming back to it is that tug from the Universe calling you to do it. You’re just not answering the call. Here’s how you can validate what I’m saying to you.
Right now, you’re walking through life with your eyes closed to your purpose. You’ve convinced yourself that you can’t pursue it, so in order to survive life without that sense of fulfillment you long for, you’ve shut that part of your brain down.
Wake up to it. Invite it into your life. Think about it. Meditate on it. Then pay attention to everything around you, and you’ll start to see all the signs leading you in the direction of that thing.
In fact, those signs you see will be like neon signs pointing out all the open doors around you, inviting you in as if you belong there. You know why? Because you belong there!
When you wake that part of your brain back up, opportunities will present themselves to you to for you to walk in your purpose. The less you resist and the more you align your thoughts with the Universe, the more things begin to fall in line for you.
So understand that the Universe has been and will continue to call you to walk in your purpose. Whether you do so or not is totally up to you.
