Entrepreneur Bae - Dating an Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs are usually very ambitious people. We have big dreams and lofty goals, and most of the time, anything that gets in the way of those goals gets nixed. We don’t have time to waste doing things that are meaningless or that don’t advance our interests.

So when it comes to being a single entrepreneur, it can be easy to find yourself in a sad state of singles purgatory. There, you’ll find it hard to make time to focus on your dating life, and when you do, it’s hard to connect with someone who is unambitious or who doesn’t understand your extreme ambition.

I’m single. I have been for quite some time now, and most of the time, dating takes a back seat to my goals. I have a habit of telling myself that once I reach my goals, I’ll be able to dedicate more time to dating.

Right now, my business is bae. I’m fully dedicated to it and I feel guilty when I spend too much time doing other things. For instance, when I go out for a drink with friends, I can usually think of a million and one things that I could have been doing for my business. And that’s even when I have a great time.

I really love my business. I’ve done other things in life, like working as a writer in the corporate world, running a dropshipping business, and a whole plethora of things. But I’ve never felt as emotionally connected with anything I’ve ever done as I feel with my current business.

Even still, I would like to find balance in all aspects of life. So although my business is bae, I would also like to find real life bae.

It’s likely that it’s easiest for entrepreneurs to just date another entrepreneur - two people who understand each other’s mindset and are equally dedicated to their businesses and each other. Wouldn’t it be a bonus to fall in love with another entrepreneur, get married, and build an empire together?

But what about non-entrepreneurs dating entrepreneurs? It may be a bit harder for someone who isn’t an entrepreneur, and isn’t really overly ambitious, to understand their entrepreneur bae and why they do what they do.

But in case you happen to need advice on dating an entrepreneur and you’re not one, here’s what I would say.

Be supportive. Your entrepreneur bae will need your support. Root them on and encourage them when they need it. Your entrepreneur bae will appreciate the fact that you seem genuinely interested in seeing them succeed.

Be understanding. Your entrepreneur bae will have to work long hours and they’ll have to be super dedicated to the success of their business. Sometimes they won’t be able to hang out, so you’ll have to be able to handle hearing no from time to time.

Don’t ever take it upon yourself to make business decisions for your entrepreneur bae unless you know they’re open to it. I’ve had this happen, and needless to say — it didn’t work out with me and that woman. It’s intrusive and just a really bad move.

Be interested in what they do. Ask questions, don’t be afraid to ask if you can hang out with them while they work or even help them with something. But be genuine. If you genuinely have no interest in what they do, don’t try to fake it.

I’m confident that all hope is not lost for me and all the other single entrepreneurs out here who are truly dedicated to living the dream. We may be hard to date at times and we may have a hard time balancing our work life with our dating life, but us entrepreneurs need love too.

So I would tell entrepreneurs who are in the same boat as me, don’t rule anyone out. Another entrepreneur could be as good or as bad a match for you as someone who isn’t an entrepreneur, and vice versa. In the end, what matters is the connection you have with your entrepreneur (or non-entrepreneur) bae and whether you’re ready to give them your heart.
