7 Free Resources Every Entrepreneur Should Know About
Entrepreneurship can be a confusing maze of wrong turns, tough decisions and unknown pitfalls. You don’t know what you don’t know and even when you do, you still sometimes feel like you don’t. Confusing, right?
Following your instinct is great, but that won’t always get you far. Sometimes you need solid information from people who know more than you do to set you on the right track.
No matter whether you’re a beginner to entrepreneurship or you’ve been around the entrepreneurial block a few times, learning should always be a part of your business plan. As a business owner, you should never ever stop learning.
To help you, I put together this list of 7 free resources every entrepreneur should know about.
Did you know that you could have your own personal business mentor that you don’t have to pay? Yep, and you can get one through SCORE. SCORE is a network of business owners and entrepreneurs, many times retired, who volunteer their time to help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs navigate the treacherous waters of business ownership. Check out the SCORE website, where you can sign up for a mentor in your area, find in-person workshops, take online courses, and attend webinars.
SBA is the Small Business Administration of the United States government. It’s a resource that every entrepreneur should be familiar with, in my opinion. On their website, you can find invaluable resources like business guides that help you plan your business, information on funding programs and even information on federal contracting. SBA also offers free business counseling to small business owners.
edX is a great resource to expand your knowledge. You can find free courses from prestigious Universities like Harvard, MIT, and UC Berkley there. I’ve taken a few edX courses, and trust me, they don’t disappoint.
Hubspot offers a ton of awesome free business marketing courses in their Hubspot Academy. They offer courses on subjects like Social Media, Email Marketing, Content Strategy and more. These are really in-depth courses that give you a lot of great information to expand your knowledge and help you become a great marketer for your business.
You may have never heard of Open Culture, but you’ll want to make sure you remember it after today. Open Culture is a website that lists free cultural and education media — and they’ve got a ton of it. They have an entire page dedicated to online business courses. In fact, it lists 150 free online business courses, including topics like how to get Angel Investors and the Fundamentals of Accounting.
Ah, the elusive skill of running Facebook ads is elusive no more. Facebook has put together free marketing courses that help you learn how to run Facebook ads on their Facebook Business site. You can learn how to market across all Facebook owned marketing channels which include Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Audience Network. You can also learn how to use the Facebook owned communications apps, WhatsApp and Workplace here.
