How to Not Piss Off Angry Customers

Today I was out running errands and worked up a pretty good appetite. I decided to stop at a restaurant that I had never been to but had been wanting to try for quite some time. I knew I wanted to order my food to go, so I went to the area of the restaurant that was clearly marked for to-go orders and stood in line behind two other people.

The restaurant was busy, but to my delight, there were two employees at the counter taking orders and ringing people up, so the short line was moving pretty quickly. Once they finished taking the order of the man directly ahead of me, I proceeded forward to place my order, but as I did, both employees walked away to do other things—without even acknowledging my presence. As I stood there, annoyed at this point, I watched at least 6 more employees walk by me without speaking, looking at me, or asking to take my order. Not good.

Now, I’ve had things like this happen before in situations where no one else in the restaurant...

Test, Test, Test to Figure Out What Works

If you’ve been following my podcast or my writings here on Medium, you may remember that I started a dropshipping business two years ago. The way I learned how to run that business was to set up a website for a general store—meaning I sold any and everything—with no niche, and try to sell everything to everyone. The importance of choosing a niche is a story for another day, but for the purposes of this dropshipping business, this method made sense.

I made my money in that business by finding trendy products, running ads for those products, and seeing what people responded to. If people who saw the ad bought the product, I’d keep selling it. If people who saw the ad didn’t buy the product, I’d stop the ad and move on to another product.

In the dropshipping world, that method is called “testing”, and in ecommerce I learned to test everything. I tested which products I sold, ad copy, ad photos, ad videos, product photos and...

You Want To Be a CEO but Are You Willing to Be a CSR?

One thing about new business owners is that so many want the title of CEO. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter that the business hasn’t made a dime yet. People tend to love that title because it’s sexy.

It’s impressive to be able to introduce yourself at networking events as the CEO of your business. Business cards and websites are a little bit cooler when your name is followed by “CEO”. Surely, you can shut the haters up when you tell everyone that you’re the CEO of a new business. Wanna impress potential baes and get more dates? Just tell people you’re a CEO when they ask what you do for a living.

When you’re starting out, it’s great to consider yourself the CEO of your new business (because you are), but are you also willing to be the customer service rep, the sales rep, the admin assistant, the project manager, the janitor, the receptionist, the mail clerk, and any and all other roles you’ll have to...

10 Easy Ways to Come Up with Ideas for Your Content

By now, you know that I talk about sharing your message and following your dreams a lot. I think I’ve been pretty honest about how difficult it can be to get over the initial fear of putting yourself out there as the example for people to follow, but there’s another difficulty that I haven’t discussed with you yet.

Whether you decide to share daily—like I do—weekly, or somewhere in between, you’ll inevitably need to be able to come up with interesting topics to discuss in your podcast, blog, YouTube videos, or whatever medium you choose to use.

Of course, the more frequently you share, the more content you’ll have to create, and if you aren’t prepared, you can find yourself scrambling for ideas and creating sub par content. You’ll need to be able to give your audience useful information that they actually want, and this requires some level of preparation—maybe even a bit of research.

Here are 10 ways to come up with...

Dropshipping - The Shortcut to Success

One of my favorite things to do in life is to travel. I’ve been able to visit some really cool places all over the world and I even plan to live abroad at some point in my life.

Because of that, it’s a must that I earn a living online. So in 2017, I was looking for a way to start an ecommerce business, without a huge upfront investment, when I started to notice those YouTube videos where some super-hyper 20 year old kid, standing in front of an orange Lamborghini, claims that he just made $1 million and all he did was set up a website, add some products to it, and run some Facebook ads. Boom, bam, bing, cha-ching!

I thought that if there was a shortcut to success, this must be it! I grew super curious about dropshipping and decided to research what it is and how I could do it too.

If you’ve never heard of dropshipping, I’ll explain what it is for you. Traditional (non-dropshipping) retail stores buy inventory, list that inventory on their website,...
