One Bold Action Per Day (Week 8 Update)

Eight weeks ago, on February 21st, I made the commitment to take one bold action per day for 66 days. If you’re interested in hearing previous updates, check out my podcast, Master Your Mission, on iTunes, Spotify, or Google Play to get caught up.

I chose 66 days, because according to studies, it takes 66 days to form a habit. I’m a big believer in leading by example, so in making this commitment, I wanted to do two things:

  1. Show other people that taking action toward accomplishing their life goals is not as scary as it looks.
  2. Make taking bold actions a habit — or second nature — in my life.

Another important thing to note is that I defined a bold action as one that:

  • Moves me out of my comfort zone and closer to my goals.
  • Defies an irrational fear that I’ve allowed to hold me back in the past.

I am happy to report to you that yesterday (Thursday) was day 56, and at this point, I am steamrolling through this challenge! The bold action that I challenged myself to take was to start a podcast through which I’d share my message to help other people start their own journey in entrepreneurship. Yesterday actually marked 60 days straight that I’ve recorded an episode of my podcast! SIXXX-TYYY! Can you believe it?

Honestly, I can’t. I remember how afraid I was to record that first episode of my podcast — and how bad the episode was. I had no direction, no structure, and really had no clue how I would get through this challenge. I also remember how afraid I was to post motivational videos to my social media, and how afraid I was to do anything that put me “out there”, exposing myself to the harsh criticisms that come with sharing on the internet these days.

For so long, I came up with all kinds of excuses for why I couldn’t share my message. Then somehow I mustered up the strength and did it anyway, and I’m so glad I did. The last 60 days have changed me more — for the better — than any other short time period, in my life, that I can think of.

The confidence and knowledge that I’ve gained, in taking bold action, has helped me immensely in other areas of life. I have more clarity in my entrepreneurial purpose and I have an even stronger desire to help other people than I did before.

This exercise in discipline and courage has helped me to be more consistent in controlling my thoughts and protecting my own positive energy. In order to record my podcast and share my message of motivation, I can’t allow myself to dwell in negativity. This has been one of the best personal benefits that I’ve garnered from this whole experience. I’ve also been able to create other positive habits that have been extremely helpful in my daily success — like, writing daily affirmations and setting daily goals.

As I said before, I’ll definitely continue to record my podcast after my 66 days are over, because it turns out, I love doing it. In fact, there isn’t anything that I started that I plan to stop doing. Instead, this experience has actually made me want to take MORE bold actions.

I’m extremely inspired to do more to help other people and I’m more committed than ever to walk in my purpose. I’ve gotten countless messages from people who have told me that they’re inspired by the motivational messages that I’ve been sharing and my hope is that it has helped them to take their own bold actions in pursuing their dreams.

As I’ve done before, in previous updates, I want to challenge you to take one bold action per day toward something that you want to accomplish in your life — a business, getting fit, repairing a relationship — it could be anything. If you need help, I even created a journal that will help you stay motivated and plan your daily actions. You can download it absolutely free here.

Don’t procrastinate any longer in taking action toward accomplishing that thing you’ve wanted to pursue forever. Use me as an example of how quickly doing the work can change you. Be sure to keep me updated on your progress once you start.

I can’t wait to report back to you in 10 days, and even more importantly, I can’t wait to see how much you change over the next 66 days. That is what will truly bring me joy!
