If you’re the type who sets New Year’s resolutions, you better start thinking about what ‘new you’ you want to be for the new year and creating a plan of how you’ll get there. I’m not a resolution maker, because — obviously — I like to change things when I notice that they need to be changed and I strive to accomplish new goals throughout the year. Thus, my 66 Days of Bold Action Challenge.
If starting a business is something you’ve been thinking about doing but haven’t done yet, I’m going to try to convince you right here, right now that you should start your business now rather than waiting.
So here are 5 reasons you should start your business now:
It’s never been easier to start a business.
With the ability to start a business or a side hustle on the internet in a day or less, there’s really no reason to make excuses for why you should wait. Whatever you have an idea for can be done online. From selling digital content to dropshipping to vlogging — you name it, and there’s a guaranteed way that you can make money doing it — or something closely related to it — online.
Procrastination begets procrastination.
If you are okay with procrastinating now, you’ll likely be okay with it later. I mean, think about how many Mondays have passed since you first started saying that you’d start on Monday. The thing about entrepreneurship is that the fire, or sense of urgency, is what makes you take these crazy risks on yourself and your idea in the first place. If you don’t have that, you might need to just keep that day job.
Someone else is already working on your idea.
Guaranteed. Someone, somewhere already has your idea and they’re making moves while you’re second guessing. If you don’t ever take action, you might watch them become the next founder of Uber or some crazy successful company that you had the idea for. Could you ever forgive yourself for that?
Time is ticking on your dream.
As much as we might forget this from time to time, life doesn’t last forever. Time flies by and one day you’re just old. Not that you can’t start a business when you’re in your golden years of life, but most people don’t. And why would you wait that long anyway. I’m sure the last thing you want to do is be old, grinding your heart out on a new business. Those are the years you should be able to kick back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Don’t wait so long that you regret it later in life.
Why were you waiting again?
So what are you waiting on again? What’s your excuse? Unless you’re physically incapable or something really serious is going on in your life that prevents you from moving forward, your excuses don’t matter, so shut it.
